Research Supporting TAP's Elements

TAP™ was developed based upon scientific research as well as best practices from the fields of education, business and management. The TAP Elements of Success stem from research findings about effective practices in attracting, developing, motivating and retaining the highest quality teachers to the profession, and particularly to high-need schools. The core aspects of TAP are also consistent with best practices in business and industry to develop and motivate employees. These elements are:

  • Multiple career paths
  • Ongoing applied professional growth
  • Instructionally focused accountability
  • Performance-based compensation
  • Bibliography

The research cited in this section was the basis of TAP. However, during the past decade, additional work has been conducted that continues to support the four elements of the TAP system.

What People Are Saying About TAP

Ralph Regula, Former U.S. Representative who served as Chairman of the House Education Appropriations Subcommittee
"I continue to believe that our most important advances in student achievement are based on the foundation of excellent teaching. TAP has demonstrated promising early results in increasing student achievement, and in creating a structure within schools that supports professional development based directly on the challenges teachers face every day in their classrooms."
