Milken Family Foundation
The Milken Family Foundation was established by brothers Lowell and Michael Milken in 1982 with the mission to discover and advance inventive and effective ways of helping people help themselves and those around them lead productive and satisfying lives. The Foundation advances this mission primarily through its work in education and medical research.
United States Department of Education
TAP has received federal funding through grants from the United States Department of Education, including the Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF). The Department has described TAP as "a new path to follow" and praised TAP for giving teachers opportunities to improve their skills, take on more responsibilities and get rewarded for making a real difference in the classroom.
The Broad Foundation
Established by Eli Broad and his family in 1999, The Broad Foundation's mission is to dramatically improve K-12 urban public education through better governance, management, labor relations and competition.
Joyce Foundation
Established in 1948 by Beatrice Joyce Kean of Chicago, the Joyce Foundation supports efforts to protect the natural environment of the Great Lakes, to reduce poverty and violence in the region and to ensure that its people have access to good schools, decent jobs and a diverse and thriving culture. In the realm of education, the Foundation works to close the achievement gap by improving the quality of teachers in schools that serve low-income and minority children, expanding early childhood education and promoting innovations such as charter schools and small schools.
Credit Suisse Americas Foundation
Credit Suisse works with its partner organizations for the good of the community and looks for ways to improve the standard of living of people around the world. The Credit Suisse Americas Foundation seeks to address societal challenges in the communities where the company employees live and work. The foundation also support schools and educational causes that offer effective opportunities for disadvantaged young people.
The Chicago Public Education Fund
The mission of The Chicago Public Education Fund is to accelerate achievement for all Chicago public school students—especially the neediest—by building talented teams of principals and teachers. A venture philanthropy, The Fund serves as a catalyst and strategic investment partner with businesses, foundations, civic and community leaders and the Chicago Public Schools to invest dollars and ideas in high-impact programs that improve school leadership and student achievement systemwide.
The Walton Family Foundation
The Walton Family Foundation, established by the family of Sam M. and Helen R. Walton, focuses on supporting systemic K-12 education reform in several states and cities across the nation, and improving the quality of life for residents of Northwest Arkansas, the state's Delta region, and in Mississippi.
Lilly Endowment Inc.
Lilly Endowment Inc. is an Indianapolis-based, private philanthropic foundation created in 1937 by three members of the Lilly family—J.K. Lilly Sr. and sons J.K. Jr. and Eli—to support the causes of religion, education and community development. The Endowment affords special emphasis to projects that benefit young people and promote leadership education and financial self-sufficiency in the nonprofit, charitable sector.
Thomas Spiegel Family Foundation
Koret Foundation
Guided by an entrepreneurial spirit, the Koret Foundation addresses societal challenges by investing in strategic solutions that promote educational opportunity, contribute to a diverse cultural landscape and bolster organizations that are innovative in their approaches to meeting community needs. The foundation was seeded with the estates of Joseph and Stephanie Koret.
Northrop Grumman Corporation
The Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company that provides innovative systems, products and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide. In its strong commitment to solutions and strategies that transform and empower communities, Northrop Grumman supports programs that improve education and human services as well as promote cultural awareness and diversity, among other worthwhile causes.
BellSouth Foundation
Realizing that strengthening the South's economy and improving opportunities for all Southerners depends upon a highly-skilled workforce and an informed and active citizenry, the BellSouth Corporation established the BellSouth Foundation in 1986. Its mission is to improve education in the South and other communities where BellSouth operates by stimulating fundamental change in education institutions and systems.
State and Local Government Support
TAP schools also receive support from state and local governments in each TAP location across the country. In a growing number of cases, state governments are also building capacity at the state level to provide technical assistance and other support services to TAP schools.
